The Walter E. Washington Convention Center location is near the Smithsonian in Washington DC. It is about thirty five minutes from Dulles Airport and fifteen minutes from Reagan Airport.

The Metrorail is a convenient way to get around DC. The Walter E. Washington Convention Center has a Metro station which is serviced by the green and yellow lines. Metrobus is another method of transportation that provides connections to the locations that are not serviced by Metrorail.

Taxicabs are also easily accessible at the convention center at the Mt. Vernon Place entrance of the Convention Center where the pickup and drop-off occurs. There is a Courtesy Shuttle that provides transport to and from the Convention Center. The shuttle is only used by guests who are staying at the hotel.

About the Washington D.C. Convention Center
The center is a several million square foot building, and is equipped to handle events of all sizes, from events for five hundred people to events of forty two thousand attendees. It is owned and operated by the city’s convention arm, the Events DC. The center is bounded by the Mount Vernon Square and is also served by the Mount Vernon Square station. It is located between the 7th and 9th Streets as well as N Street, it is right across from Carnegie Library at the Mt. Vernon Square.  Local airports include Ronald Reagan Washington D.C. National Airport (DCA) and Washington D.C. Dulles International Airport (IAD).

The Walter E. Washington Convention Center is a cultural and architectural treasure and has beautiful granite and limestone and dramatic 100-foot curved glass entry, the center is an outstanding feature in a city that already harbors so many remarkable buildings. The center contains 198,000 square feet of meeting space and seventy seven meeting rooms, a ballroom that features a pre-function area that has breathtaking panoramic views of the DC skyline, the latest telecommunications and technology infrastructure which includes WiFi access and a state-of-the-art digital signage system that features over one hundred forty high definition LCD flat panel screens.

The center has a rich index of green features that include low emission glass which controls heat loss and gain and then maximizes natural lighting, there are ventilation and air conditioning systems, energy-conserving heating which operates in zones. The center is one of the most energy-efficient buildings for its size.

Hotels in Washington D.C.
Marriott Marquis Hotel Washington is an upscale, full service and smoke-free downtown hotel. It is located one mile north of the National Mall, near the convention center. It has a total of sixteen floors, one thousand one hundred twenty six rooms and forty nine suites. The hotel has an exercise room that is opened twenty four hours. There are three restaurants. It is near the Washington DC Convention Center, Verizon Center, Ford’s Theatre, Reagan Trade Center and Georgetown University Law Center.

Another hotel that is near the center is the Henley Park Hotel DC which has a nice atmosphere with good furniture. The hotel is historic as well as charming. Some of the attractions that are close to it are Washington D.C. Convention Center, the Verizon Center, Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site, Warner Theatre and Reagan Trade Center.
