|The University of Houston is the third largest college in Texas. It was founded in 1927 as a junior college. In 1933, the school was declared a full university. It boasts quite a unique alumni association.

The research center at the University of Houston is world respected for its cancer breakthroughs. Doctors come from all around the world to study at this ground breaking school. Many drugs have been developed to treat cancers that would have been terminal a few years ago. These drugs are now being used all around the globe.
The student body had a large student union. They are active in both school and local issues. Many of the students are from the Texas area. They have invested much into their institution. It is not unusual for a student to obtain their undergraduate degree, and complete their graduate studies here also. The loyalty felt to the University of Houston is a deep pride.
