The University of Colorado Boulder abbreviated UCB or CU Boulder is located in Boulder, Colorado. CU Boulder is a research college and considered a Public Ivy League School. It makes up a network of nine different colleges under the University of Colorado and offers more than 150 academic programs.

The Regional Transportation District RTD one of the greenest and fastest mode of travel. The trip is about 70 minutes. It runs every hour. Boulder boasts its B-Cycle program is the best method of getting around. Most people prefer it because of the one-way street systems, parking, and heavy traffic.

If you plan to spend time up in the mountains you will be away from civilization so you will need a sport utility vehicle. You can pretty much walk, bike, or higher a car service to get around town. The Denver International DEN is a 39 minute drive from the university. From Utah you will have to descend the Rockies on I-70E, get off in Golden and follow the signs for US 6 North.

About the University of Colorado Boulder
The campus boasts that 11 Noble Laureates, 9 MacArthur Fellows and 18 astronauts have been CU Boulder students, researchers, or faculty members at one time or another. The university research funded programs includes a laboratory for atmospheric and space physics, and Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics (JILA).

The Colorado Buffaloes compete in nine different spots in the NCCA Division I Pacific -12 Conference and have won 26 championships. Boulder itself is the eleventh most populous city in Colorado. It is located at the base of the Rocky Mountain foothills. More than 97 thousand people live in Boulder. It is known as a college town and there is plenty to do in the great outdoors.

Things to do in Boulder
Pearl Street – on Pearl Street you can shop at the mall, street performers, and eat cuisine from all over the world. Boulder Creek Path cuts through the middle of town and sits on the banks of Boulder Creek. The Creek is a popular swimming hole in the summer and inner tubes are sold at local gas stations.

The Colorado Music Festival Orchestra plays in Chautauqua Park during the summer. The park also has a hiking trail. Tour the Celestial Seasons Tea Factory. Hike and have a picnic at Flagstaff Mountain. There is the Summit Nature Center there and the Flagstaff House Restaurant also. There are many trails to hike and bike, resorts and spas, as wells as museums all around Boulder.

At Flagstaff House you can enjoy a full meal, cocktails, and dessert. There are breathtaking views of the city but the menu can be a bit pricey! Dine a Top Chef Season 5 winner Hosea Rosenberg’s Jax Fish House. The Yellow Deli is open 24/7. The serve breakfast, soups, salad, sandwiches, and bottomless mugs of Yerba mate tea. The smoothies aren’t half bad either.

Hotels near the University of Colorado Boulder
If you are looking for a budget stay you want to stay at either the Boulder University Inn or the Rodeway Inn & Suites. Both offer a no frills stay with wireless Internet. Many of the mid-prices national chain hotels can be found near downtown or near the University like the Quality Inn, Best Western, and Residence Inn. If you want to splurge a little stay at the Alps Boulder Canyon Inn it is a 1870 log cabin mansion construction that was made from local stone and logs.
