The University of North Texas is a public research university located in Denton, Texas. The school is the fourth largest among the many universities in Texas. University of North Texas has more than 36,000 students and well over 1000 faculty members. The university offers numerous areas of study with 90 plus Bachelor programs and over 80 Master programs. The popular majors are management, communication and English.
The school has a major athletic and performing arts programs. The University of North Texas was founded in 1890 and was originally a private college for teachers. The university has many student clubs and activities and the rate of participation is impressive. If you prefer smaller class sizes, The University of North Texas boasts that nearly 30 percent of classes have fewer than 20 students. The ratio of professors to students is also very low for a university of its size. Notable The University of North Texas alumni include Dr. Phil of television fame and Mean Joe Greene, a hall of fame defensive lineman.
Things to do in Denton
The Dallas-Fort Worth and Arlington area combine to form one of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States. Denton itself is home to the North Texas State Fair. The climate is typical of the southern Midwest with temperatures into the 90s in the summer and mild winters.
Texas, in general, and North Texas specifically is a hotbed for football. The recently constructed Texas Stadium is considered to be the finest sports venue in the world and routinely draws major sporting events such as the super bowl and the Final Four.
