The Convention Center’s most differentiating feature is the Sails Pavilion, which is a special event area which has a floor space of around ninety thousand square feet. The roofing is made of Teflon which is coated with fiber glass sails intended to be a reflection of the maritime history of San Diego. The convention’s pavilion has a lobby which has space that is allotted for the registration and pre-function area. The pavilion also has a FedEx business center located in one of the hotel lobbies which deals with faxing, shipping, photocopying, printing of conference materials, mailing and digital distribution. There are ATM’s, three coffee shops as well as concierge desks for guests’ convenience. The center has seventy two meeting and banquet rooms for gatherings that are intimate.
The center also has Starbucks that is located within the convention center lobbies. There is a nursing mother’s lounge for visitors, which is located in the restroom. There is a concierge services that helps in making reservations, buying tickets, getting a recommendation or scheduling a taxi. The San Diego Convention Center has experienced and knowledgeable staff who act as a liaison between the exhibitor and the range of event and building services to ensure an event’s success. The convention has seven fuel-rod stations throughout the facility. For a small fee, attendees can purchase the fuel-rods which are reusable and portable charging systems.
