Mobile, Alabama was founded in 1702, as the original capitol of the Louisiana Territory. It became an official member to the United States later in 1813, but not before it underwent rule from many sides.

You will need to collect information on the shuttle you are assigned to, as well as shuttle driver’s contact information. On the day of your trip, you will meet the shuttle at the Ground Transportation Center at Mobile . The driver will call to inform you 15 minutes ahead of the planned time to allow you to make it to the shuttle. In addition, upon completion of your trip, a shuttle may be arranged to pick you up and transport you back to Mobile Regional Airport. This will be about a 30 minute shuttle ride.

It is also home to the first ever Mardi Gras, which first took place in 1703, by the French, in celebration of traditional Catholicism. In addition, the city adopted another name in 1929, which was “the Azalea City”, as members of the city lined its city streets with numerous trails of azalea flowers.

The Mobile Bay Area itself is known for its culturally diverse enrichment. Among the many museums and art centers about the city, Mobile also boasts its own orchestra, opera, and professional ballet company. It is a city that attracts a diversity of people and a diversity of activities.

        The Mobile Area and Tourism
If you do not attend any of Mobile’s Mardi Gras or art ceremonies, you may also consider visiting Battleship Memorial Park, which houses tours of both U.S. ships, the USS Alabama and the USS Drum, or the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center in downtown Mobile. If you enjoy golf, you can try Azalea city golf course, many a time graced by the presence of Arnold Palmer and other golf greats.

If it is a concert you’d prefer, the city is also home to Bayfest, one of America’s largest and longest running music festivals, known for its variety of musical showcases over the years. You may also try your hand at the numerous festivals, art shows and culinary events that take place within the city, especially on weekends. Other notable attractions include Mobile Medical Museum, Fort Conde and various events at Mobile’s own Convention and Civic Centers.
