About Pasadena
Pasadena often gets lumped into the full cityscape of Los Angeles, but it is its very own city – and a unique one at that. The Tournament of Roses is hosted there annually and there are a number of sites that are there year-round for residents and tourists alike to enjoy.

Pasadena didn’t come unto its own until the late 1920s. Prior to that, it was nothing but orange groves and streets filled with leafy trees. A stadium was built that would be home to the Rose Bowl and suddenly everyone became familiar with this area. In the early mornings, there are joggers and dog walkers and Arroyo Seco is the part of Pasadena many people know well. It follows South Arroyo Boulevard around Arbor Street and there are old trees that tower over all of the old houses. When you book your Rose Bowl tickets, make sure to book your airport transfer from LAX, or else you might find it a bit difficult when thousands of others come here for the parade and bowl game.

Throughout Pasadena are also the Craftsman style homes. These are woodsy buildings with tile and brick and art glass. They don’t have the fussiness of Victorian homes, though, and that’s why they go by a different name. A perfect example of a Craftsman home is that of the Gamble House, located on Westmoreland Place.

Old Pasadena is home to a lot of shopping, primarily national chains. They are hidden behind historic facades and are shopped in day and night. All of this shopping can be found along Colorado Boulevard and there are plenty of brick alleys and side streets where you can experience the heartbeat of the city, complete with all of the homegrown merchants and the local restaurants and eateries.

Pasadena has a number of neighborhoods within its area, offering homes to the broad demographics. The average age within the city is thirty seven years old. Most of the residents are well educated and this allows many people to go get good paying jobs and have the lives they wish to have. Pasadena was originally created as a way of being able to abolish the sale of alcohol as well as saloons throughout the area. It was in 1887 that liquor was banned in Pasadena.
