The convention center has 123,000 square feet of usable space to offer for exhibitors and conference organizers. The largest space is the exhibition area, at 43,000 square feet. This area can be partitioned and divided to personalize the space as needed by each patron. There is also a 12,000 square foot banquet area that is ideal for company events, special events and conferences. The facility has its own kitchen and catering service to make ordering and arranging for food during your event simple and easy. In addition to the exhibition halls and the banquet space, the convention center also has 18 meeting rooms, making it ideal for conferences and other company events that require smaller spaces for different sized groups and events. The John S. Knight Center has a full range of audio and visual equipment, to enable guests to have performances, make announcements, conduct presentations and do whatever else they need to do for their event. Additionally, the convention center has a large outdoor terrace ideally situated for outdoor receptions during the spring and summer months. The facility can provide staff for events and can recommend vendors for events to ensure that hosting an event at the convention center is simple and uncomplicated. Akron has many activities for tourists and locals to enjoy. There are three concert halls, including the 2955 seat E.J. Thomas Hall, which hosts the Akron Symphony Orchestra, the Tuesday Musical Club and the Children’s Concert Society. In addition, Akron is home to a major art gallery, the Akron Art Museum. The seventh largest historic home in the United States, the Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens is located in Akron. Tours of the home and gardens are available. Akron also has a thriving sports scene, including a minor league baseball team, the Akron Rubberducks, who have won the Eastern League Championship four times. Akron also has a women’s roller derby team, the Rubber City Rollergirls, who compete at the conference center itself. The city is also home to the University of Akron, which brings collegiate sports and upper level education to the city.
