About Taoyuan International Airport
A little over 15 miles (25 km) from downtown, Taiyuan International isn’t too bad of a commute for those looking to get into the heart of the city. For business travelers however, a long trek can mean the difference between getting a lot of work done or wasting an entire afternoon. Be sure to reserve a shuttle ahead of time, as none of these stays offer free lifts.

If you find yourself stuck at the airport, take care of unnecessary stress with a range of on-site restaurants and shops. Eateries include traditional Chinese restaurants, western fast food chains, and cozy cafes, while shops offer a humble collection of souvenirs and fashion from locally-run vendors, plus bare necessities at a few duty-free shops. Admire specially-commissioned art in between, looking forward to hidden pieces along several passageways including the terminal connector.

Enjoy just as much fun outside the airport by exploring Taiyuan southeast side, taking advantage of the unique shops, bars, and riverside beauty that surrounds Xing Hewan Park as well as the greater Xiaodian District. For something more low-key, you can also hang out in the nearby city of Jinzhong, located on the southeast end of the airport and home to countless eateries and parks frequented for local residents.

Taiyuan Destinations

Once you’ve experienced all the old, take a taste of the new, whether that means enjoying a ride along one of several rides surrounding Yingze Lake, from the free-for-all at Canyon Shooting Range to the soaring views on Super Swing, or taking a stroll through the local history at Taiyuan Jinshang Museum. Take a break from it all by exploring the region’s many natural landmarks as well, from the riverside beauty of Taiyuan Fenhe Scenic Area on the north side to the far western mountains offered by Taigang Suburban Forest Park, the latter especially renowned for its picturesque sunsets.
