Punta Cana International Airport (airport code PUJ) services the cities of Punta Cana and Higüey, two of the Nation’s epicenters of tourism, in the province of La Altagracia. The airport is privately owned, and services 5.1 million passengers and close to 60,000 commercial flights ever year. The Punta Cana National Airport is one of only three airports that offers direct flights to Russia from Latin America, and ranks as the second busiest airport in the Caribbean.

The airport was recently expanded to three open terminals in 2011, with a fourth planned to be constructed in 2015. The airport serves over 50 airlines, and offers international flights all over the globe, including direct flights to Canada, Paris, Russia, and the US. The soon-to-be-constructed fourth terminal is designed specifically to hold larger aircraft, with 8 different air bridges, including two air bridges for the massive A380 Airbus.
