About Prairie Capital Convention Center
In addition to large-scale national events the convention center also hosts smaller occasions like weddings, receptions, corporate conferences and professional meetings. This massive entertainment complex has been recently updated and expanded to increase its versatility. 44,000 sq. ft. of open space makes up the Main Hall, where all the biggest events take place. Featuring state of the art closed circuit and satellite television screens, the highest quality audio-visual set up and a stunning array of lighting effects, all of the magic happens at the Main Hall.
Smaller events are hosted in the attractive and spacious 21,000 sq. ft. Lower Level. The brand new BOS Plaza provides a stunning outdoor space, alongside the fabulous patio of the two upper level terrace areas. Both terraces are sophisticated and modern in design, accented with beautiful LED lighting features, adding a special atmosphere to any kind of occasion. Other enhanced features include additional concessions for more delicious snacks and food, upgraded restrooms and an expanded lobby for a more comfortable starting point upon your entry to the convention center.
Besides the main arena, there are enough meeting rooms to accommodate up to 500 people, with customizable options to suit the exact specifications of your next event. Weddings, business conferences, receptions and celebrations are just a few of the many occasions frequently hosted by the Prairie Capital.
In addition to all the fun happenings at the convention center, there are tons of different attractions nearby. There’s something for everyone here in Springfield, with a variety of hotels, shopping centers and wonderful restaurants all just a short distance from the center. American history enthusiasts will enjoy exploring the Land of Lincoln at any of the eight nearby landmarks, such as President Lincoln’s home and the Lincoln Family Church. Other classic pieces of bygone eras include the Dana Thomas house and historic Route 66. For more contemporary adventure, head on over to the Knights Action Park to splash around in the sun during the summer months. Winter activities include the Nelson Ice Rink, and everyone will enjoy shopping year round at the busy White Oaks Mall.
