US Airways Express offers the only passenger service to Philadelphia International Airport. New Haven itself has a population of more than 129 thousand people and it’s the 2nd largest city in the state. The city is situated on the northern shore of the New Haven Harbor. Yale University, a very prestigious college is located in New Haven. To some degree New Haven is the co-capital of the state but Hartford is the actual capital as a result New Haven is called the cultural capital of Connecticut.
Things to do in New Haven
Take one of the community bike rides or bike to the local beach. There are many shoreline bike routes. Hike to the Three Judges Cave in Summit of East Rock Park and West Rock Park. Music lovers should visit the world famous Toad’s Place or the Firehouse 12 to hear some great musical acts.
Visit one of the museums in New Haven to learn about the early history of New Haven and the United States. The East Haven Town Beach is a fun place to have a picnic, play volleyball or on the bocci courts, or for the kids to play on the playground.
New Haven Restaurants
Enjoy old New Haven’s world style at any number of the Italian restaurants on Wooster Street. Some of the local favorites include Sally’s Apizza and Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana. Once you’ve feasted on pizza head over to Libby’s Italian Cookies and pasties and have cannoli’s or some other great Italian sweet treats. Vegan and Vegetarian restaurants can be hard to come by when you are traveling so Claire’s Corner Copia is a rare find. Located in downtown, the menu changes regularly but they have some great gluten free bakery items including Lithuanian coffee cake a local favorite.

There are many hotel chains in New Haven including the Clarion, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, Baymont Inn, and Super 8 just to name a few.
