        You can reserve a hotel in Kos or you can make discount airport transportation reservations. Kos Island International Airport, also called Hippocrates and abbreviated KGB. 

        There is a tourist train for $6 USD (5 EUROS) round trip from the train station by the port; the train travel to and from Asklepeion, which is a 15 minute ride. There are taxis all over the island; they are really expensive and cost $19 USD (15 EUROS) just for a 5 minute trip to Mastichari. Renting a scooter, ATV, or car is another option. The cost is not too expensive. When renting a scooter make sure to ask for a helmet.

        About Kos Airport
        The airport is named after the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates of Kos, known as the father of western medicine. The Kos Island itself is one of a group of islands known as Dodecanese, which is next to the Gulf of Gokova. There are more than 33,000 people in Kos making it a quaint little island to visit.
         

        Restaurants near Kos
        Almost all restaurants serve a pita gyro for about $3 2.50 EUROS ; add a pint of Greek beer for another 2 or 3 dollars 1.50 to 2.50 EUROS . You’ll have to travel a couple of blocks from the beach I you want to eat a gyro this cheap. If you don’t mind paying the prices, you’ll find many fine dining experiences around town like Posidonia Restaurant or Aegean Restaurant. Traditional Greek food consist of dishes like stuffed Florina peppers or Kolokythoanthoi, stuffed zucchini flowers for an appetizer. Greek Mediterranean dishes use olive oil, bread, wines, fish, lamb, rabbit, poultry, and pork traditionally. You’ll find lots of dishes that include olives, cheese, eggplant, zucchini, and of course yogurt.

        Things to do in Kos
        The best thing to do, of course, is visiting the beaches. There are dozens of bars with coconut drinks and iced cappuccinos. Just above the friends Café there’s a play-land for children. In Plaka Forest about 2 minutes from the airport there peacocks, tortoises and other animals roam free. There is also a shaded picnic area. Grapes grow from the rich volcanic soil which makes for good wine making a tour o the Triantafullopoulos winery will prove that. You’ll get a chance to sample their Malagouzia Sauvignon Blanc.
