When you think "wealthiest city in America" or insurance industry hub you don’t think of that city being in Iowa. But those are all things that have been said about the capitol city of Des Moines. The largest city in Iowa with a population of 600,000 you can’t deny that it is sizable. About Iowa Events Center It is home to the Wells Fargo Arena with its 17,000 seat arena that places host to many sporting events for their minor league hockey, football and basketball teams. Annually they host the Iowa High School’s wresting and basketball tournaments. Ranked in the top 100 of concert venues since its inception it is a popular place to rock out at. Another part of the complex is Hy-Vee Hall the biggest exhibit hall in the state with 100,000 sq. ft. of space. They also house 8 breakout rooms to host your meetings in. Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center is the newest addition to the complex. It was originally an auditorium but was remodeled and opened back in 2012 as a premier state of the art facility. The complex also has a restaurant offers picturesque views of the Des Moines River and the Iowa State Capitol. Being the capitol city and also an award winning city there is plenty to do and see in Des Moines. The Iowa state fair is a great choice if it is going on at the time of your visit.
