Being a mid-size college city, it is the home to Colorado State University. In 2006, it was hailed by the Money Magazine as the Best Place to Live in United States. In 2008, it ranked number 2 and in 2010, it ranked number 6. This town is also known as one of the inspirations for the Main Street USA design within the main entrance of Disneyland-style parks managed by The Walt Disney Company.
For those people who visit this place every year, the city’s most active airport is the Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport. Short for FNL, this airport is situated 17 kilometers (10 miles) southeast of downtown Fort Collins in Larimer County. Since the closing of Fort Collins Downtown Airport in 2006, Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport is the only airport to serve all areas in the city. Every year, FNL has over 100,000 airport operations.
