About the Empire Expo Center
This versatile expo center is known for hosting the Great New York State Fair, which annually draws over 1 million visitors during its 12-day run. This expo center is dear to the people of Syracuse for its diverse cultural and local events. It is often simply referred to as "the Fairgrounds", and is well known for holding a variety of interesting festivals and events. The Coliseum located inside the expo center was once the original home of the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team.
This large and innovative expo center hosts a number of popular shows and expos, including the Great New York State Fair, the Syracuse Jewelry and Mineral Show, the Syracuse International Horse Show, the New York State Boer Goat Show, Syracuse Nationals Car Show, and the Salt City Autumn Antique Show. The State Fair is loved by thousands of people, known for its wonderful variety of concessions, carnival rides, butter sculptures, livestock showings and games. There’s always something happening at this lively fairgrounds, even long after the fair has packed up and gone home.
Dog shows, concerts, auctions and trade shows are just a few of the annual events hosted at the Empire State Exposition Center. Syracuse is known as an artistic city, and cultural enthusiasts will enjoy observing many fine art pieces at the Syracuse University Art Collection or the Everson Museum of Art.
History buffs can enjoy learning all about various interesting aspects of the city at the Richardson Bates House Museum, which features 19th century photographs, documents, antique furniture, Native American artifacts and artwork, paintings and other unique pieces of history.
