About the Bessemer Civic Center
It accommodates 1,600 attendees. The East Meeting Room is 4,000 sq ft, and can be divided into three separate breakout rooms. The space has a separate entrance to an adjacent 300-space parking lot. Parking is no charge. The Main Hall features a 45’ x 37’ stage, loading docks providing easy entry access, and utility connections.

‘Foodie’ visitors are within six miles of the state’s most renowned restaurants: Upscale restaurant, The Bright Star is Alabama’s oldest family owned restaurant, opened in 1907. It is known for their Snapper & Steak and signature seafood gumbo. Urbanspoon recognized them as one of Birmingham’s Best Restaurants, and CNN named them one of America’s Best Historic Restaurants. Bob Sykes BBQ offers a more casual experience, serving slow-fired hickory-smoked barbecue pork and chicken since 1957. They were voted best barbecue sauce in the 2014 Alabama BBQ Bracket. The Bob Sykes BBQ and Blues Festival is every May at Debardeleben Park, also a short ride from the Civic Center.

During event downtime, there is plenty more to do for all interests: History Buffs can take their pick of Bessemer’s many historical sites: Bessemer Hall of History, the McAdory House or Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park, to name a few. Blues fans must visit the last juke joint in Alabama, Gip’s Place, a tin-roof blues shack cramming in sixty or so fans on a show night to see aspiring young artists sit shoulder to shoulder with the pros.
