MidAmerica St. Louis Airport abbreviated BLV is 16 miles (26 km) east of downtown Belleville, Illinois. They serve over 27 thousand passengers each year and its ranked 9th out of all the airports in the state of Illinois.

There is MetroBus service in Belleville there are four lines: one that runs to and from the airport on line number 15 Belleville Shiloh Scott; number 1 Main-State Street; number 16 St. Clair Square; and the number 17 Carlyle Plaza-17th street. There is also a recreational bike trail that runs through the city to the college. You can also rent a car from any of the national are rental companies that are readily available.

About Belleville Airport
The airport operates on the grounds of the Scott Air Force base. Belleville itself is in St. Clair County, and it has a population of more than 43 thousand people. In terms of population it is ranked number 8 in all of Illinois. Most of its inhabitants are comprised of military and federal civilian personnel, military retirees, or people that work for companies that contract with the military.

Things to do in Belleville
See the second oldest philharmonic orchestra in the country-Belleville Philharmonic Society. Visit some historic locations: Belleville Historic District includes some 70 buildings; Gustave Koerner House; and Knobeloch-Siebert Farm or you can visit the Eckert Family farm to pick from their orchard when in season. You can also go to the drive-in (Sky-view Drive-in) to see a movie. Just about any month you visit Belleville there will be some type of festival or event going on from the St. Patrick’s Day in March to the Gingerbread Walk in December.
