Metro even offers a U-Pass system allowing U of M students to make a one-time purchase each semester to use the Metro whenever they need or want to travel around the Twin Cities. There are also many car sharing and ride sharing opportunities for on and off campus traveling.
If you are looking to board a plane to visit home, or any airline transportation needs, the Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport is the best in the area. The Minneapolis/St. Paul provides shuttle services through their AirportShuttles.com system. A trip to the airport from campus or back again takes about an hour one way. Reservations do need to be made to ride the AirportShuttles.com, but these can be made in as few as two hours in advance.
