Along Cambodia’s massive Lake Tonle Sap, Siem Reap Pier is a truly incredible destination for cruise ships, mainly because of the city’s mostly land-locked location. Most ships arrive through the Tonle Sap River, the Mekong River and Co Chen, finally arriving to the modestly beautiful Siem Reap Pier. The pier is just a few miles south of the town of Siem Reap City, a populous Cambodian village with a heavy French-colonial presence along ancient Hindu structures. Easy transfers can be reached through the pier’s attached access to Highway 63, even more so through scheduled ride shares - choose from casual sedans or family-friendly SUVs for intimate rides through the festive canal-side wonders of the city, or opt out with the absolute convenience of meet-and-greet services, whether it be through the eyes of a local personal driver who can share the native experience, or a taxi that makes for easy drop offs to the colonial architecture and parks around Siem Reap Center.

There’s a lot to do in town, not so much close to the pier’s quiet location, save for casual eats from the Tonle Sop Floating Restaurant’s festive outdoor ambiance paired with freshly caught seafood. Spend the morning with a stroll through the Artisans Angkor, a cool souvenir shop that showcases only the best in locally made Cambodian works of art in a scenic setting, the slightly further ANM Khmer Market host to a similar setting but in the evening, with hundreds of shops offering their best in food, clothing and photo-friendly ambiance. A more grandiose evening setting can be discovered along the famous Pub Street Siem Reap, a glittery neon-lit stretch of shops and vibrant nightlife walking distance from the casual waterfront paths along the Siem Reap River. A vast 11th-century temple surrounded by well-maintained structures can also be found on the far north side of town, attractions including a pyramid, forest-shrouded temple and Buddhist island.
