Along the far western shores of Ecuador, the city of Manta is practically located along the planet’s equator, offering an array of unique mountainside forests as well as national parks, instant access to a diverse array of beachfronts making for perfect pristine walks. Cruise ships arriving to the temperate climate will dock along the north side’s port along Manta Bay, the official terminal building called Terminal de Cruceros; the vibrant multi-purpose building is nightly lit along Malecon Avenue, offering places to sit, tourist information and event spaces. A few bus routes are located throughout the region as well, but guests can choose from one of many transfers to get around easier, whether it be through private vehicles like sedans, chartered buses and vans perfect for beach hopping, or a meet-and-greet service ideal for drop offs ranging from taxis best for moving toward unknown streets, or local personal drivers aware of the hidden beauty of local hangouts.
Discover everything Manta has to offer by traveling along its coastline first, the beach closest to the cruise terminal being Murcielago Manta Beach, a scenic stretch with crystal blue waters and attached access to the fun boardwalk shops & restaurants of the Scenic Murcielago Pier. Continue walking through the Banco Central del Ecuador’s vast exhibit space for a quaint afternoon of art, afterward continuing the museum vibe with a walk through the historic Cancebí Museum, a building home to several indigenous artifacts as well as intimate views of the old way of life. A great start for continued beach tours, the Cancebí Museum is down the street from La Poza, Tarqui and Los Esteros. And for dinner, settle for nothing but the best, choosing between the vibrant Spanish-themed ambiance of Martinica, or the neighboring Mexican at Chamaco Restaurant.
