Without an official cruise port, attendees passing through the small Mexican city of Loreto will only be able to reach the shore via tendered boat. Stopping along downtown’s Marina, cruise goers can easily access a variety of 17th-century landmarks as well as an array of unique eateries along the town’s waterfront stretch Paseo de Antonio Lopez Mateos. Public transportation is virtually nonexistent, mainly because the small town only continues for about a mile inland - with that said, its suggested that guests bring comfortable walking shoes. Transportation alternatives include casual private rentals like sedans, vans and SUVs, each as perfect for discovering hidden Spanish-colonial nooks as relaxing with outskirt wonders along Highway 1, meet-and-greet services going the extra mile with absolute convenience to wherever, whether it be a chauffeured limousine who knows how to take each turn slow or a local personal driver aware of the town’s hidden beauties.

Along the south side of the Baja Peninsula, guests can easily discover wonders within the city as well as toward the center of the narrow strip. Upon arrival, first walk along the town’s tranquil Marina promenade, a popular cobblestoned vista leading to various waterfront seafood restaurants, some of the most popular being the tasty burgers & nachos at Los Mandiles de Santa Lucia, as well as fresh shrimp tacos from El Caloron. Continue inland for a quick tour of the region’s famous Jesuit Missions, starting at the local exhibit next door to the Parroquaia Misión de Loreta, the main attraction for religious folk being the hilltop wonderment of the Misión San Francisco Javier de Viggé-Biaundó, located further toward the Bajas central mountains and offering a day’s worth of exploring. For something more casual, just relax at Malecón Costero, a popular rocky waterfront home to cobblestoned promenades and benches, as well as a few slivers of beach.
