Nestled in Western Thailand’s Andaman Sea, the island of Koh Adang is located a few miles from two major piers in the city of Satun; Tammalang Pier and Pak Bara Pier. Tammalang Pier is home to a famous giant crab statue and covered walkway leading to a small terminal building - ferries depart from this pier and offer a scenic voyage through the Strait of Malacca. The much larger Park Bara Pier is located a bit further north along the same shoreline, doubling as a visitor center and offering ticket sales through an easily navigable terminal building - speedboats and large pontoons depart from here, passing the famed island attraction of Tarutao National Park along the way. Transportation on the mainland can also be helpful if passengers choose to return, whether it be meet-and-greet services like basic taxi drop offs or private transfers like sedans, vans and chartered buses perfect for self-guided adventures.

Most boats drop off in front of The Adang Island Resort, a great place to grab breakfast and walk over to the nearby Chon Salad Waterfall. To skip spending too much, it’s also suggested to pack a lunch for intimate picnics along the beach. Adjacent from Lipe Island, Ko Adang is often revered for being the quieter isle of the two, one less overstrained by tourists. Tourists should prefer the quietude Ko Adang, but if not a ferry terminal can easily transfer guests to Lipe Island to see what’s up. Wherever the day goes, be sure to bring good hiking shoes for exploring, as well as flip flops and goggles for viewing tropical fish in the white sand’s shallow waters. Hidden coves and strange rock formations can also be discovered throughout the shoreline, while a lonely camp site is home to a giant swing and the occasional monkey.
