About San Francisco Airport
It’s the most densely-settled huge city with a population of more than 200,000. It is also the 2nd most densely-populated city in the US next to New York City. In California, San Francisco is actually the 4th most populous city.
It is in fact a famous tourist destination due to its cool summers, steep-rolling hills, fog, architectural blend and popular landmarks like cable cars, Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, and Alcatraz Island. So many things to look for in this lovely city but all you need is an enthusiastic mind to explore every one of them.
Convenience at San Francisco International Airport
In 2013, SFO is the 7th busiest in the US and the 21st busiest airport worldwide in terms of passenger count. SFO is also the 5th biggest hub for the United Airlines and serves as the main transpacific gateway. It serves as the principal base of Virgin America when it comes to operations.
This is also the United Airlines’ exclusive maintenance hub while housing the popular Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum. The airport is policed and owned by county and city of San Francisco but is in fact based in San Mateo County. SFO is conveniently located at the US Route 101 which is 13miles south of San Francisco downtown.
The airport also offers long term and short term parking facilities in order to accommodate vehicles. Currently, the Nippon Cargo Airlines provides a branch in San Francisco within the airport premises.
