Berlin Airport Shuttles
Berlin shuttle to the airport
Berlin is the capital of Germany and has been a European tourist attraction for years. The Bode-Museum, which is part of the Museumsinsel also known as Museum Island, has a collection of ancient Greek, Islamic and Middle-Eastern artwork.

As a result, many consider the fastest and most convenient way to get into the city to be bus. There are buses that stop just outside the airport exit. Depending on where you want to go and when you can choose between the Express Bus X9 and the TXL Express Bus. The X9 will take passengers toward the west of Berlin and leaves approximately every ten minutes. The TXL will take passengers toward the east of Berlin and also leaves at intervals of approximately ten minutes.

In addition to buses, there are taxis available at the airport. Fares average around thirty Euros toward either the east or the west. Lastly there are car rental services located in the airport’s car park, for those wishing to drive themselves.

Hotels near TXL
If you want to stay close to the airport, there are two notable hotels to consider. The first of these is the Mercure Hotel located on Kurt-Schumacher-Damm. There is a shuttle service available to take you from the airport to the hotel.

The other notable option close to TXL is the Dorint Hotel. It is located just off of Kurt-Schumacher-Damm. If you are looking for a hotel with an American name, there are two just a bit further away. To the north of the airport is a Days Inn and to the south is a Holiday Inn.

Berlin, The Gateway To Germany
Berlin Tegel Airport uses the FAA ID: TXL. This airport is known for its hexagon-shaped terminal building. The benefit of this might not be obvious, but this shape is designed to minimize walking time between gates and the exit. Depending on which gate you arrive at in Terminal A, you may be as little as 98 feet from the exit.

The airport is located in Berlin’s Reinickendorf-Tegel district. The district is to the Northwest of Berlin’s center. While TXL is currently the largest airport in Berlin, Germany, there is another on the way. Berlin Brandenburg is scheduled to open in 2016. Until then, if you are looking for European or intercontinental flights out of Berlin, Berlin Tegel will likely be your airport of choice.

About TXL Airport
There are over forty airlines currently listed as flying in and out of TXL. Among these are Air France, British Airways, Estonian Air, Qatar Airways, and United Airlines. These and the airlines servicing the airport reportedly carried more than 19.5 million passengers in 2013. Those numbers were up from 18.1 million in 2012. Those growing figures were part of the considerations in building a new airport.

Despite additions of four more terminals over the years (B, C, D, and E) security and other considerations can still cause travelers frustrations. For instance, some passengers arriving for connections, regardless of the length of your layover may be required to go through security before boarding. As a result, it is a good idea to ensure you understand the details of your connection prior to arrival.

While you are in Berlin you should visit the Siegessäule, which will give you an incredible view of the city. Most tourists will see the Berlin Wall Memorial, which with its barriers being torn down changed Europe into what it is today. One of the best festivals in Berlin is the Karneval der Kulturen, which features various ethnic groups music, dance, costumes, etc. When you arrive at the Berlin Airport or TXL you can find ground transportation to and from the airport for airport rides such as private van services and sedan rides at cheap rates.
